The Association
About the International Association of Orgasmologists
Building the professional infrastructure for Orgasmology and evidence-supported Orgasmic Learning.
The International Association of Orgasmologists is being developed as a professional association dedicated to establishing standards, competencies, certification requirements, continuing education, and professional recognition within Orgasmology and Orgasmic Learning.
Its current focus is the development of professional standards for qualified practitioners working with women who experience orgasm difficulty through evidence-supported Orgasmic Learning pathways.
Who We Are
A Professional Association for an Emerging Field
Orgasmology brings together scientific knowledge concerning orgasm and orgasmic capacity across multiple disciplines.
Orgasmic Learning applies that broader scientific foundation to the question of how orgasmic response may be accessed, learned, strengthened, restored, generalized, and expanded.
The International Association of Orgasmologists is developing the professional structure needed to translate these emerging bodies of knowledge into responsible professional practice.
Research identifies the pathways. Education develops knowledge and skill. Professional standards establish competency and responsible practice.
Our Purpose
Advancing Professional Practice in Orgasmic Learning
The Association’s purpose is to support the development of a qualified professional community equipped to understand and apply evidence-supported pathways to orgasmic access within appropriate professional scopes of practice.
Its work centers on:
- Establishing professional competencies
- Developing ethical standards
- Defining certification requirements
- Supporting pathway-specific professional specialization
- Establishing competency assessment
- Supporting supervised and case-based professional development
- Developing continuing education requirements
- Promoting responsible professional recognition of Orgasmology and Orgasmic Learning
- Encouraging interdisciplinary professional collaboration
Our Role
From Evidence to Professional Standards
The International Association of Orgasmologists does not function as a treatment provider or training school.
Its role is to develop the professional standards and credentialing structure surrounding Orgasmology and Orgasmic Learning.
Professional Standards
Define the knowledge, competencies, ethical expectations, and professional responsibilities associated with Orgasmic Learning practice.
Certification
Develop competency-based certification requirements for professionals completing the required foundational education and specialty pathway training.
Professional Recognition
Establish clear specialty credentials that identify demonstrated competency within evidence-supported Orgasmic Learning pathways.
Continuing Professional Development
Support continuing education and ongoing competency as research and professional practice continue to develop.
Affiliated Organizations
Research. Standards. Education. Advocacy.
The development of Orgasmology and Orgasmic Learning is supported through affiliated organizations with distinct but complementary roles.
The International Association of Orgasmologists (IAO) develops professional competencies, ethical standards, certification requirements, continuing education expectations, and professional credentials within Orgasmology and Orgasmic Learning.
The Female Orgasm Research Institute (FORI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting research and scientific development related to female orgasm, orgasmic difficulty, Orgasmic Learning, and evidence-supported pathways to orgasmic access.
The Female Orgasm Training Institute (FOTI) provides professional education and training in Orgasmology, Orgasmic Learning, and specialty pathways.
FOTI provides the educational component through which professionals develop the knowledge and pathway-specific skills required within the developing certification structure.
The Women’s Cannabis Project (WCP) is an advocacy initiative of the Female Orgasm Research Institute focused on advancing recognition of women’s health conditions within medical cannabis policy, including female orgasmic disorder/difficulty.
Leadership
Suzanne Mulvehill, PhD
Clinical Sexologist | Orgasmologist
Suzanne Mulvehill, PhD, has spent years investigating why orgasm remains difficult for many women and identifying evidence-supported pathways through which orgasmic response may become more accessible.
Her work has included research on cannabis and female orgasmic function, development of the Orgasmic Learning framework, and the integration of research across multiple pathways to orgasmic access.
She is the lead author of peer-reviewed research on cannabis and female orgasmic function and the author of the forthcoming peer-reviewed article introducing Orgasmic Learning as a treatment framework for female orgasmic disorder/difficulty.
Her current work focuses on developing the scientific, educational, and professional structures needed to support Orgasmology and Orgasmic Learning as an interdisciplinary professional field.
- Executive Director, Female Orgasm Research Institute
- Founder, Women’s Cannabis Project
- President, Female Orgasm Training Institute
The Future
Building the Professional Field of Orgasmology
Orgasmology draws together research that has historically developed across separate disciplines.
Orgasmic Learning brings evidence-supported pathways into a shared framework for understanding how women with orgasm difficulty may gain and strengthen access to orgasmic response.
The International Association of Orgasmologists is developing the professional infrastructure needed to support that work through standards, competency, certification, continuing education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The long-term aim is a professional community grounded in research, defined by competency, guided by ethical standards, and equipped to expand evidence-supported options for women who experience orgasm difficulty.
